How Much Does Google Ads Cost for a Medical Practice?

Illustration of advertising spend, cost per inquiry and appointment measurement without example results

Google Ads has no fixed price. You set a budget, pay for clicks, and Google won't charge a campaign more than 30.4 times its average daily budget in a month. In Sacramento, the average click ranged from $4.11 for “hydrafacial sacramento” to $61.40 for “dental implants near me” (Google Ads data via DataForSEO, October 2025 to September 2026). We start budgets at $1,500 a month per campaign, paid directly to Google with no markup, and in our dental accounts cost per lead is approximately $70. Judge the spend by cost per booked appointment.

Brand Lift 360 runs Google Ads for medical and aesthetic practices in Roseville and Greater Sacramento. This guide covers the media cost only: what clicks cost, how Google bills you and what a starting budget buys. Cost per click (CPC) is what Google charges each time someone clicks your ad.

Source: Google Ads Keyword Planner data, retrieved through DataForSEO on October 27, 2026; Sacramento, California city location, English; 12 months from October 2025 to September 2026. “Near me” and searches without a city were made from Sacramento. Google returned no estimate for “botox sacramento,” “botox near me,” “plastic surgeon sacramento” or “emergency dentist near me,” so they aren't shown.

Average CPC is what advertisers actually paid per click, on average. The top-of-page bid range is Google's estimate of what advertisers have bid to show above the regular results: the low end is roughly the 20th percentile and the high end roughly the 80th. The two are calculated differently, so an average can sit outside the range.

The spread is wide. Dental implant clicks averaged $56.88 to $61.40, while the med spa treatments above averaged $4.11 to $10.90 a click.

How Google Decides What You Pay per Click

Google Ads is an auction. Each time someone searches, Google ranks the eligible ads using a score it calls Ad Rank. Your maximum CPC is the most you're willing to pay for a click, and your actual CPC is what you're charged. In Google's words, “you only pay what's minimally required to clear the Ad Rank thresholds and beat the Ad Rank of the competitor immediately below you.”

Google also says higher quality ads typically cost less per click than lower quality ads. In practice, that means two things. You rarely pay your full bid, and an ad that matches the search and lands on a matching treatment page can cost less per click than a generic ad sent to your homepage. We cover the page and follow-up side in Google Ads for Medical Practices: Connect Spend to Booking Outcomes.

How Google Bills You: Daily Budgets and Monthly Limits

You don't set a monthly price in Google Ads. You set an average daily budget for each campaign, and Google spreads it across the month.

  • On a single day, most campaigns can spend up to two times the average daily budget.
  • In a month, Google won't charge more than 30.4 times the average daily budget. 30.4 is the average number of days in a month.
  • When you're charged: with postpay billing, Google charges you whenever your account reaches its payment threshold, and on the first day of the month.
Monthly budgetAverage daily budgetMost on a single dayMost in a month
$1,500$49.34$98.68About $1,500
$3,000$98.68$197.37About $3,000

Because you pay Google directly, the charges come from Google, on your own card or account. With us there is no markup on top.

What Does $1,500 a Month Buy?

Divide the monthly budget by the average click price for a rough click count:

Search (Sacramento)Average CPCApproximate clicks for $1,500
botox$7.01214
laser hair removal sacramento$10.90138
breast augmentation sacramento$11.32133
chiropractor near me$11.65129
dentist near me$13.08115
dental implants sacramento$56.8826

Those are clicks, not patients. A lead is a call or form from a potential patient, and cost per lead is ad spend divided by those leads. In our dental accounts, cost per lead has been approximately $70, which at $1,500 a month works out to roughly 21 calls and forms. A lead isn't a booked visit, so we track cost per booked appointment for every client.

The Total Monthly Cost With Management

Ad spend is one line; managing it is another. Ad management is included in our managed marketing plans: Growth ($1,499 a month) manages up to $3,000 a month in ad spend, and Authority ($2,999 a month) up to $10,000. So Growth plus one $1,500 Google campaign is $2,999 a month in total, plan and ad spend combined. Common Questions About Google Ads Cost

Is there a minimum budget for Google Ads?

Google lets you choose your own budget and bids. We start at $1,500 a month per campaign, paid directly to Google with no markup. That is our planning recommendation for a medical practice, not a Google minimum.

Why did Google charge more than my daily budget?

For most campaigns, Google can spend up to two times your average daily budget on a single day, but it won't charge more than 30.4 times your average daily budget in a month. A $1,500 monthly budget is about $49.34 a day, so one busy day can reach about $98.68.

What is a good cost per lead for a medical practice?

It depends on the specialty and the market. In our dental accounts, cost per lead has been approximately $70. A lead is a call or form, not a booked visit, so track cost per booked appointment as well.

Do I pay the agency for my Google Ads clicks?

Not with us. You pay Google directly from your own ad account, with no markup. Ad management is included in our Growth and Authority managed marketing plans.

What to Do This Week

Open Keyword Planner inside Google Ads and look up the three services you most want to fill, with your city. Note the average CPC for each, divide $1,500 by it, and ask whether that many clicks could realistically become the bookings you need. If you already run ads, pull last month's spend and count the booked appointments it produced. That is your real cost, and the number to beat.
