Plastic surgery SEO is won one procedure page at a time. Patients don’t search for “plastic surgeon”; they search for “tummy tuck Sacramento,” “best rhinoplasty surgeon near me” or the name of a signature procedure. A page that answers that search, names the surgeon and the location and carries structured data can rank in Google and be named in Google’s AI Overview. This article shows what that page looks like, using a result we documented for a client.
Brand Lift 360 provides plastic surgery marketing in Roseville and Sacramento. Procedure-page SEO and AEO are included in Growth and Authority.
Why the Procedure Page Is the Unit
Google and AI assistants match a search to a page, not to a practice. A practice with a long “Procedures” list and no individual pages competes for nothing specific. A practice with a page per procedure competes for every one of them. For a 1–3 surgeon practice, start with the five procedures you most want to grow, then expand; the ASPS plastic surgery statistics are a useful check on which procedures patients are actually asking for.
A Documented Example
One of our plastic surgery clients offers a signature body-contouring procedure. When patients search for the best surgeon for that procedure in the state, Google’s AI Overview names the practice, describes the procedure and links to the practice page. We captured it with the date and query. The page did three things: it answered the question in the first paragraph, it connected the surgeon to the procedure and the location, and it carried structured data so nothing had to be guessed. See the case study.
The Procedure Page Checklist
| Element | What it needs |
|---|---|
| Title and H1 | Procedure plus city: “Tummy Tuck in Roseville & Sacramento” |
| First paragraph | A two-sentence answer: what the procedure is and who it’s for. AI assistants quote this. |
| Candidates and goals | Who it suits, what it addresses, what it doesn’t |
| What to expect | Consultation, procedure, anesthesia, recovery timeline, when results settle |
| Cost | A starting range or what determines price. Pages that dodge cost lose to pages that answer it. |
| The surgeon | Named, credentialed, linked to their page, with how many of this procedure they perform |
| Before-and-after photos | With consent, compressed, described in alt text without patient names |
| FAQs | Five to eight real patient questions with direct answers and FAQ structured data |
| Structured data | MedicalProcedure, Physician and FAQPage markup, plus the practice as a MedicalBusiness |
| Next step | One consultation request path, visible on mobile without scrolling |
Connecting the Surgeon
AI assistants recommend people as much as practices. A surgeon page with board certification, training, procedures performed and the location they operate from gives Google and AI a person to attach to the procedure. Link each procedure page to the surgeon and the surgeon page back to the procedures. Without this, an AI may describe the procedure and name a different practice.
Local Signals
- Google Business Profile: every procedure listed as a service, the surgeon’s name in the description, current photos.
- Reviews that name the procedure: a review that says “my tummy tuck” is a stronger signal than five stars alone. Ask after the follow-up visit, with no incentive.
- Consistent facts: the same practice name, address, phone and surgeon names on your site, profile and directories.
- Location pages: if you serve more than one city, a page per city that links to your procedures.
What to Measure
In Search Console, track impressions and position for each procedure page by its procedure-plus-city query. In your CRM, track consultation requests by procedure and which page they came from. For AI, capture dated answers for “best [procedure] surgeon in [city]” monthly. Report consultations booked, not clicks.
Questions Surgeons Ask
How long does plastic surgery SEO take?
New or rewritten procedure pages usually start earning impressions within four to eight weeks of being indexed. Competitive procedures in large metros take longer. AI Overview mentions can appear sooner for specific procedure-and-city searches. Results vary by query, location and date.
Can a practice appear in Google’s AI Overview?
Yes. The client above is named and linked for its signature procedure. The page answered the question directly, named the surgeon and location, and carried structured data.
Should I target “plastic surgery marketing agency” keywords too?
No. Those are searches by other practices looking for an agency. Your pages should target what patients search: the procedure and the city. For how AI assistants choose a practice, read LLM SEO: How AI Assistants Decide Which Practice to Recommend.
