Marketing for Chiropractors: What Works

Chiropractor adjusting a patient's upper back and neck

Marketing for chiropractors works when it reaches people the day their back or neck starts hurting: a complete Google Business Profile, one clear page for each condition you treat, a practice ChatGPT can describe accurately, search ads for patients ready to book, and fast follow-up that turns a call into a first visit. Star ratings will not set you apart. On October 28, 2026, every rated listing in Google Maps' top 20 for "chiropractor" in Roseville and in Sacramento had 4.6 stars or more. SEO (search engine optimization) is the work of getting your pages and Google listing found when patients search, without paying per click.

For practices on our managed marketing plans, we run all of these as one plan and report on booked visits every month. See how our chiropractic marketing in Roseville and Sacramento works.

How Do Patients Find a Chiropractor?

With a short local search. "Chiropractor near me" was the most-searched phrase in Google's keyword data for both cities in October 2026:

SearchSearched fromAverage monthly searchesAverage cost per click
"chiropractor near me"Sacramento1,300$11.65
"chiropractor sacramento"Sacramento880$13.28
"chiropractor near me"Roseville880$21.15
"chiropractor for back pain"Sacramento70Not reported

Two things stand out. Patients search for a chiropractor far more often than for a condition such as back pain, so your Google listing does more work than any single page. And demand moves with the calendar: in Roseville, "chiropractor near me" ranged from 320 searches in July 2026 to 2,900 in January 2026.

A "near me" search shows the map pack first. The map pack is the box of three Google Maps listings that appears above the regular results for local searches. The demand behind it is broad: the CDC reports that 10.3% of U.S. adults had seen a chiropractor in the past 12 months when surveyed in 2017, up from 9.1% in 2012.

Win the Map Pack Before Anything Else

Google ranks local results on relevance (how well your profile matches the search), distance (how close you are to the searcher) and prominence (how well known you are, including reviews). On October 28, 2026 we pulled the top 20 Google Maps results for "chiropractor" in both cities:

What we measuredRosevilleSacramento
Reviews of the top 3272, 37 and 2130, 231 and 138
Median reviews, ranks 4 to 205878
Most reviews in the top 20446, ranked 9th311, ranked 13th
Lowest star rating among rated listings4.64.6

The Roseville listing in third place had two reviews. It was a profile for an individual chiropractor, not a practice, and at least three of Roseville's top 20 were profiles like it. Google's guidelines allow this: when several public-facing practitioners work at one location, the practice should have its own Business Profile, separate from each practitioner's, and a practitioner's profile should carry only that person's name.

Your profile checklist:

  • Primary category set to Chiropractor, with services that match the pages on your website.
  • A profile for each chiropractor who sees patients, plus one for the practice.
  • Accurate hours and a working booking link, checked every month.
  • Real photos of your office, treatment rooms and team.
  • New reviews every month from patients you ask the same way. Here is how to get more Google reviews within Google's rules.

Our Google Maps ranking checklist covers the rest.

Give Each Condition You Treat Its Own Page

A patient with sciatica wants to know you treat sciatica. Build one page for each condition or service you actually offer, such as low back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, auto injuries, sports injuries, prenatal care or pediatric care. Each page should cover:

  • The condition in plain words, and what a visit involves. Describe the care, not a cure.
  • Who treats it, with the chiropractor's name and D.C. credential.
  • What happens at the first visit and how long it takes.
  • Cost, cash-pay options and the insurance you accept.
  • A booking button and your phone number near the top.

Be exact about insurance, because unclear coverage creates calls that never book. If you see Medicare patients, say what Medicare covers: Part B pays for adjustments of the spine by a chiropractor to correct a subluxation. It does not cover other services or tests a chiropractor orders, such as X-rays, massage therapy or acupuncture, and the patient pays 20% of the approved amount after the Part B deductible.

Make Your Practice Easy for ChatGPT to Describe

AEO (answer engine optimization) is the work of getting your practice named and described correctly in AI answers, such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews. On October 28, 2026 we asked ChatGPT, with web search on and a Roseville location: "What is the best chiropractor in Roseville, CA? I have lower back pain."

It named seven practices and linked every one to its Google Maps listing. At least five of the seven were also in that day's Google Maps top 20. Each description leaned on plain specifics: the lead chiropractor's name, treatments by name such as decompression or shockwave therapy, years in practice, a focus such as auto and work injuries, or a pricing model such as flat-rate care.

That is the lesson. Put those facts on your website and Business Profile in short sentences, and keep them the same everywhere they appear. It works for chiropractic: one of the captures on our case studies page reads "Chiropractic named in a ChatGPT answer." Each capture records one search, and AI answers change with the question, location and date. Our guide to getting recommended by ChatGPT covers the full list of fixes.

Use Search Ads for Patients Ready to Book

Cost per click is what Google charges each time someone clicks your ad. At Sacramento's October 2026 average of $11.65 for "chiropractor near me," a $1,500 monthly budget buys about 129 clicks. In Roseville, at $21.15, it buys about 71. Not every click becomes a call, so spend where the intent is strongest:

  • One campaign per service, starting with the one you most want to grow.
  • Send each ad to its matching condition page, not your homepage.
  • Block job and school searches such as "chiropractor salary" or "chiropractic school" with negative keywords, the words you tell Google never to show your ad for.
  • Plan for the swings. Roseville searches peaked in January; set budgets with that in mind.
  • Judge ads on booked first visits, not clicks.

Our ad budgets start at $1,500 a month per campaign, paid directly to Google with no markup. More on click prices in how much Google Ads costs.

Keep Offers and Claims Inside California's Rules

California's Board of Chiropractic Examiners encourages "constructive educational publicity." It also treats advertising that contains "misstatements, falsehoods, misrepresentations, distorted, sensational or fabulous statements" as grounds for suspension or probation. The rules that touch marketing most:

Common tacticWhat the rules say
Free or discounted first examAllowed if accurate. You cannot charge for other services at that visit unless the patient knew the cost and agreed first, or bill separately to evaluate a diagnostic test you offered free.
Rewards for referring friendsOffering a discount or other consideration as an inducement for referring patients is listed as unprofessional conduct.
Waiving co-pays to attract patientsWaiving deductibles or co-pays as an advertising or marketing practice is unprofessional conduct unless the insurer is notified in writing.
Promises of lasting reliefSensational or misleading claims are grounds for discipline. Promise a clear first visit, not a result.
Discounts for Google reviewsGoogle does not allow incentives of any kind in exchange for a review.

This is general information, not legal advice. Have your attorney review any offer or referral program before it runs.

Answer Fast and Follow the Care Plan

Marketing only pays when someone answers. Every call, form and message needs an owner and a same-day reply, including after-hours inquiries. A CRM (customer relationship management system) is the software that tracks each inquiry from first contact to booked visit, so nothing slips. For practices on our managed marketing plans, we set up the CRM and the reminders for you.

Follow-up after the first visit should support the plan the chiropractor recommended and the patient agreed to: appointment reminders and easy rebooking. Your ads and emails should never suggest how many visits a patient needs; that is the chiropractor's call. Then measure three numbers separately every month: inquiries, booked first visits and attended first visits. Our guide to lead follow-up for medical practices sets out response-time standards.

Common Questions About Marketing for Chiropractors

How do chiropractors get new patients without discounting?

Be the easiest practice to find and choose. Complete your Google Business Profile, publish a page for each condition you treat, ask every patient for an honest review and answer every inquiry the same day. California allows truthful discounts, but they are not what puts a practice in the map pack.

How much should a chiropractor spend on marketing?

Budget for two things: the marketing work and the ad spend. Our managed marketing plans start at $1,499 a month, and ad budgets start at $1,500 a month per campaign, paid directly to Google. At the October 2026 Sacramento average of $11.65 per click for "chiropractor near me," $1,500 buys about 129 clicks.

Is SEO or Google Ads better for a chiropractor?

Most practices need both. Ads can bring calls within weeks of launch, while SEO and the map pack build over months and then keep working without a per-click cost. Start ads on the service you most want to grow while your profile and pages mature.

Can a chiropractor advertise a free first exam in California?

Yes, if the ad is accurate. California's chiropractic regulations allow advertising free or discounted routine services. You cannot charge for other services at that visit unless the patient was told the cost and agreed first, and you cannot bill separately for evaluating a diagnostic test you offered free.

Can I reward patients who refer friends?

Be careful. California's chiropractic rules list a discount or other consideration offered as an inducement for referring patients as unprofessional conduct, and Google does not allow incentives for reviews. Thank referring patients without a reward, and have your attorney review any referral program first.

How long does chiropractic marketing take to work?

On our managed marketing plans, ads usually go live around week 2 and a new website launches in weeks 4 to 6. Paid search can bring calls in the first weeks, while map pack and AI search gains usually take months. We review the numbers with you every month.

What to Do This Week

Search "chiropractor near me" from your front desk and from a phone across town, and note where your practice appears. Open your Google Business Profile and confirm the category, hours, booking link and a profile for each chiropractor. Then list the three conditions you most want to treat more of and check whether each has its own page. For the full picture of what a year of marketing costs, see how much medical marketing costs.
